AC Servo Sliders – Ball Screw Drive
The AC servo version of the LEFS slider features an AC servo motor instead of a DC version. The AC servo motor enables higher speed and acceleration, as well as improved vertical load capability in the size 40 model. The drivers are pulse input type, with both incremental and absolute encoder options and 17- or 18-bit resolution.

The original LEFS slider features an inline motor with a cover. Because the motor drives the ballscrew directly, additional cost of a belt and pulley system is avoided. The motor cover is taller than the load platform, so be aware of potential interference at the origin position.

The LEFS with parallel motor mounts, mounts the motor alongside the actuator axis. The motor is coupled to the ballscrew by a belt and pulley system. This model has two advantages. The overall length is considerably shorter than the inline LEFS, and the motor is below the surface height of the load platform to avoid interference. Motors can be mounted to the left or right of the axis.

The LEFS is available in a motorless type, permitting the mounting of an AC servo motor other than the standard chosen by SMC. Shaft coupling and mounting patterns are compatible with 8 servo motor series from 5 manufacturers. Manufacturers include Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, Sanyo Kenki, Omron, and Panasonic.

25A-LEFS Electric Actuator, Slider Type, Ball Screw Drive, AC Servo Motor, Secondary Battery
The 25A- series variations are compatible with secondary battery manufacturing for electronics, automotive, and other vehicle types. Design goals include eliminating copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) materials where possible, and employing a low dew point grease that retains lubricity even in low manufacturing temperatures. Please note that copper and zinc materials are used for the motors, cables, controllers and drivers.
