Digital Architecture

The Air Management System is available in two basic configurations that vary by the standby regulator used. The A type utilizes the electro-pneumatic regulator while the B type uses the manual type standby regulator. Both types include an isolation valve and can be configured as remotes (SA) or as fieldbus connected bases (EN, PN). The hubs have an extra IO link port for connection to additional devices that can communicate through the system.

The heart of the Air Management System is the hub. Based on the PF3A flow sensor, the hub generates flow, pressure and temperature data to quantify machine operation. The standalone or remote hubs can communicate wirelessly with the base units. The base units have fieldbus communication for connection to the PLC while process data is provided via OPC UA to the customer analytics system.

The ITV-X399 standby electro-pneumatic regulator adds functionality to the standard ITV for use in the Air Management System. Like standard ITV, it allows the user to electronically control the pressure to the device. The capability of setting a standby pressure has been added, and the non-relieving design allows the system to decay to this pressure before the ITV maintains it at the set lower pressure. A pressure ramp feature is also added that permits a controlled pressurization at start-up and eliminates the need for a separate soft-start device.

The AR*S series standby regulator provides a simple, mechanical method of introducing a reduced, standby pressure to the Air Management System. A non-relieving design, the AR*S allows the system to decay naturally to the standby pressure to minimize the air required to bring the system back to full pressure after a short idle period.

The VP*E-X660/X661 series isolation (residual pressure relief) valves facilitate the Air Management System putting the machine in isolation mode for a longer-term idle state. This eliminates constant losses due to leaks in the downstream equipment. The soft option is recommended when using the AR*S series standby regulator for controlled pressurization of the system.

The Air Management System automatically regulates and isolates the compressed air provided to a machine to improve efficiencies during periods of inactivity.  The unit generates pressure, flow, and temperature data to characterize normal operating conditions and identify trends to both compare with similar machines and enable preventative action to maintain optimal system performance.  The unit does not require reprogramming of the user's PLC to operate, making integration both simple and cost effective.  The high-resolution data is accessed by the PLC via fieldbus and SCADA packages via OPC UA.  Using OPC UA and wireless systems, the Air Management System can be added without connector to the PLC or changes to PLC programming.

EXW1 series is a compact and lightweight wireless communication module that is intended to be installed on industrial robot or moving fixtures.  EXW1 supports a faster wireless communication up to 1 Mbps and external antenna to allow installation within metal shielded locations and locations that have obstructed line of sight.  EXW1 can be used in combination of EX600-W wireless fieldbus systems.

ISE20B-L is a digital pressure sensor supporting the IO-Link communication protocol.  When paired with an IO-Link master, measured values, and settings can be accessed from the HMI screen of a PLC.  ISE20B-L incorporates IO-Link version 1.1 and COM2 speed. 16-bit process data include 2 output bits for set points, a diagnosis bit and 13 bits for the measured value. The 3-screen, 3-color display shows the instantaneous reading in red or green, and the setting label and its numerical value in orange.  ISE20B-L is UL/CSA, CE and RoHS compliant, with an IP65 enclosure rating.

ISE20B-L-S is a digital pressure sensor with all the standard features of the ISE20B, while integrating an M12 connection and supporting the IO-Link communication protocol. This next generation ISE70 pressure sensor provides continuous quantitative values, as well as switched digital outputs when pressure set points are met.  This sensor is also IO-Link compatible.  Sensor information, such as identity, functional state, cable connection, and current or switch values can be set or monitored remotely though an IO-Link master, and connected to a fieldbus network.  The ISE70 is designed for abusive environments that may also include splashed coolant, lubricants or grime.  Electronics are packaged in a metal housing, while the piping connection is a stout lug with female threads, which together protect the sensor against accidental collisions with other objects in the area.  A smooth display face with membrane type buttons avoids contamination from grit and sticky residue that could clog or jam raised rubber buttons.  The display is angled and can rotate 336 degrees, to permit easy reading when indirectly mounted.  The main screen shows instantaneous values in red or green, while the sub screen setting appear in orange.  Switch indicators will also light when set points are reached.

PSE200A is a pressure sensor monitor with an informative, easy to read 3 screen, 3 color display.  Connect up to 4 PSE series remote pressure sensors, then select a channel to view the sensor’s measured value on the main screen.  Alternately, the range input function can scale any 1-5V signal from another sensor type to a display value from -1500 to 1500.    View a variety of secondary data on the sub-screens, including switch set point value, level meter, character string for labeling and more.  Check differential pressure between CH1-CH2, or CH3-CH4.  Additional functions include anti-chatter, error codes, power saving, key lock, security code and others.  This monitor is also IO-Link compatible for viewing measured values, diagnostics and switch output status of all channels.  Internal hardware and applied pressure errors can also be indicated.  Parameters set on the monitor can be reset by the IO-Link master if a new monitor replaces a damaged or failed one.  PSE200A is CE and RoHS compliant, with an IP65 front face when panel mounted (IP40 otherwise).

The PSH Condensation Checker monitors temperature and moisture in a compressed air or non-corrosive gas supply line.  The sensor identifies whether damaging condensation is a risk to the connected equipment.  The detected results are displayed as percent relative humidity and temperature values. Both values can be displayed simultaneously if desired.  The sensor can also respond to the detected values with display color changes and digital switch, outputs, signaling whether the values are within or outside the setpoint ranges. Values can be read and settings changed directly at the sensor, or remotely through analog voltage or IO-Link.  The enclosure is IP65 rated and meets CE and RoHS standards.

Series ITV electro-pneumatic and electronic vacuum regulators control air/vacuum pressure steplessly in proportion to an electric signal. The units are compact, lightweight, and include an easy to read LED display.  Input signals can be analog current or voltage, 4 or 16 point presets, or a range of communication protocols including CC-Link, DeviceNet™, PROFIBUS, RS-232C or I/O-Link.  EtherNet/IP™, and PROFINET are available as well.  See the separate configurators on this site.  Monitor output is available as an analog or switch signal.  ITV regulators are IP65 equivalent.

Series PF3A digital flow sensor provides continuous quantitative values as well as switched digital outputs when set flow levels are measured.  When paired with an IO-Link master, measured values, settings, and device information can be accessed at an HMI screen or fieldbus networked monitoring device.  32-bit of process data include 16 bits for the measured value, 2 output bits for set points, and 2 diagnostics bits.  The PF3A is suitable for applications requiring a metered quantity of air, such as for supply confirmation, filling accumulation, or fixed supply consumption.  The oversized PF3A display has 2 screens, with main screen flow values in red or green, while the sub screen settings are shown in orange.  The display can be rotated in 90 degree increments, thereby offering better visibility during operation.  The thermal sensor is protected in a bypass flow path to reduce contact with moisture and contaminants, avoiding accuracy deterioration and damage.  The PF3A has an IP65 ingress protection rating and is both RoHS and CE compliant.

Series PF3W7-L digital flow sensor constantly monitors water or coolant flow.  "L" models are IO-Link compatible.  These sensors also have the "Z" designation for redesigned piping adapters, imparting a 13-53% weight reduction depending on flow range.  PF3W7-L features an integrated 3-color, 2-screen display.  Options include a manual flow adjustment valve and temperature sensor.  The main screen displays instantaneous flow value in red or green, while the white subscreen can show temperature, the switch set point, accumulated or peak/bottom value, or a line name.  The display rotates in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions, offering improved readability during operation.  When paired with an IO-Link master, values and settings can be accessed from the HMI screen.  PF3W7-L incorporates IO-Link version 1.1 and COM2 speed.  48 bits of process data include flow and temperature values, switch outputs, and diagnostics.  Both IO-Link data and switch outputs can be read over the M8 or M8-to-M12 cable.  PF3W7-L is IP65 rated, and is both RoHS and CE compliant.
