Actuators with Battery-less Absolute Encoders
SMC has introduced a line of actuators driven by 24VDC step motors fitted with battery-less absolute encoders. An absolute encoder offers position data upon power-on, avoiding the homing routine an incremental encoder requires. Our battery-less absolute encoder pairs orientation sensors with differently sized rotating wheels to enable position detection. This electro-mechanical design eliminates the battery and its accompanying import and disposal restrictions common to traditional absolute encoders. A battery-less solution is also free of memory retention limits from extended power-off situations.
LEFS Slider, Ball Screw Drive, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The standard LEFS series utilizes a ball screw drive to provide high positioning repeatability (±0.02 mm) and the ability to handle heavy loads. This model is a versatile choice for general-purpose automation tasks that require precise linear positioning. It includes a standard seal band to protect the ball screw and guide from debris, and its design allows for easy mounting without removing external covers.
LEFS Ball Screw Slider, High Performance with Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The high-performance LEFS-G model is an upgraded version of the standard ball screw slider, featuring a more powerful motor that improves maximum work load, acceleration, and speed. These enhancements allow for significantly reduced cycle times, with the ability to handle horizontal loads up to 75 kg. It is specifically paired with high-performance controllers to maximize its output while maintaining the same physical footprint as the standard LEFS series.
LEFSW Slider, IP65 Dust and Water Resistant, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
Designed for harsh environments, the LEFSW is an IP65-rated version of the ball screw slider that is protected against dust and water jets. It employs a specialized enclosure and sealing mechanism to ensure reliable operation in wash-down applications or areas with high moisture and particulate levels. Despite its rugged exterior, it maintains the precise positioning and high-load capabilities of the standard LEFS line.
LEFB Belt Drive Slider, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LEFB series is a belt-driven electric slider designed for high-speed transport and long-stroke applications. By using a belt drive rather than a ball screw, this model achieves significantly higher speeds (up to 1500 mm/s) and supports strokes up to 2000 mm, making it ideal for rapid movement across large distances. It features a low-profile design and a flexible seal band to protect the internal drive components from foreign matter.
LEKFS*E High Rigidity Slider, Ball Screw Drive, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LEKFS-E series is engineered with a high-rigidity guide frame to minimize deflection and improve performance under high-moment loads. This makes it particularly suitable for applications where a heavy or overhanging workpiece is mounted to the slider. While it shares the ball screw drive mechanism of the LEFS, its enhanced mechanical structure provides superior stability and accuracy during high-speed operations.
LEKFS*G High Rigidity Slider, Ball Screw Drive, High Performance with Battery-less Absolute Encoder
Combining the structural stability of the high-rigidity series with an upgraded high-performance motor, the LEKFS-G offers the pinnacle of slider performance. It supports higher work loads and faster acceleration than the E version while maintaining excellent dynamic allowable moments. This model is intended for the most demanding automated tasks where both extreme precision and heavy-duty cycle capacity are required.
LEY*G, High Performance Rod, Absolute Batteryless Encoder
The LEY-G is a high-performance version of the standard rod-type actuator, offering increased pushing force and faster speeds through an improved motor and controller combination. It is designed for push and pull applications, such as pressing or lifting, where cycle time and force consistency are critical. This model is often used as an electric alternative to high-output pneumatic cylinders
LEY*E Rod, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The standard LEY series is an electric rod actuator that mimics the form factor and mounting of a traditional pneumatic cylinder. It uses a ball screw or lead screw to move the rod linearly, providing precise control over position, speed, and force. Its compact design makes it easy to integrate into existing pneumatic systems when a switch to electric motion is desired for better control and energy efficiency.
LEY-X8 Rod, IP67 Dust/Waterjet Proof, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LEY-X8 provides the highest level of environmental protection in the rod-type lineup, featuring an IP67 rating that allows it to withstand temporary immersion in water. This model is ideal for food processing, pharmaceutical, or outdoor applications where the actuator is frequently exposed to liquid or intense cleaning cycles. It combines this ruggedness with the standard precision of the LEY series' linear motion.
LEG, High Rigidity Guide Rod, High Performance, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LEG is a heavy-duty guided actuator that features larger guide rods and bushings than the LEYG, providing even higher rigidity for demanding industrial tasks. Designed as an electric equivalent to the MGP pneumatic series, it is built to handle significant offset loads and high-impact forces. Its robust extruded body and reinforced guiding system make it the preferred choice for heavy-part handling and high-stress assembly operations.
LEYG Guided Rod, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LEYG series integrates a rod-type actuator with a guide body and two guide rods to prevent the rod from rotating and to support lateral loads. This integrated design eliminates the need for external guides, making it a compact solution for conveyor stoppers or lifting applications where the actuator must resist side-loading forces. It offers the same precise control as the LEY but with much greater mechanical stability.
LES Slide Table, Compact, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LES series is a compact electric slide table that integrates the guide and the actuator into a single, low-profile unit. This all-in-one design is optimized for space-saving applications where high precision and high-load capacity are required in a small footprint. It is frequently used for picking and placing small components or for precise alignment in tight assembly spaces.
LESH Slide Table, High Rigidity, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LESH model builds upon the slide table design by adding a high-rigidity guide, allowing it to support larger moments and heavier loads than the standard LES. The enhanced guide structure ensures that the table remains stable and accurate even when carrying overhanging or off-center workpieces. It is ideal for precision assembly tasks that require a robust yet compact linear motion solution.
LESYH, Electric Slide Table, High Precision Type, Battery-less
The LESYH is a high-precision version of the electric slide table, featuring a specialized guide and screw system to achieve superior positioning accuracy and smoothness. It is designed for applications where even minute deviations can affect product quality, such as semiconductor manufacturing or delicate electronic assembly. LEHF Gripper, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LEHF series is an electric gripper with a battery-less absolute encoder, designed for secure and repeatable part handling. It provides precise control over gripping force, speed, and jaw position, allowing it to handle fragile items or various part sizes with the same hardware. Because it uses an absolute encoder, the gripper remembers its jaw position even after power loss, ensuring that it can safely resume operations without dropping or crushing a held part.
LER Rotary Table, Battery-less Absolute Encoder
The LER series is an electric rotary table designed for precise angular positioning and high-torque rotation. It features a rotating top plate that can be programmed for various angles, offering a cleaner and more controllable alternative to pneumatic rotary actuators. It is available in both basic and high-torque variations to accommodate different rotational loads and speeds.
