Low GWP Chillers

In the early 2000s, the term "Low GWP (global warming potential)" became an industry shorthand for ozone-friendly, new refrigerants such as R454C. As European countries moved away from ozone depleting substances, refrigerant regulations were tightened to eliminate HFCs and reduce manufacturers' carbon footprints and environmental impact. Regulation effective dates vary, but in response to them SMC is introducing low GWP chillers with lower GWP refrigerants, either R454C (GWP 146) or CO₂ (GWP 1) which are dramatically below the new thresholds.

Learn more about how SMC rack mounted low GWP chillers offer high-precision temperature control in a compact, refrigerant-free design. The greenhouse effect of the HRRF series is significantly reduced compared to older models. These chillers use thermoelectric (Peltier) technology for both cooling and heating. Because they don't have a compressor, they are environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
