Basic linear air cylinders are used to provide straight-line, in/out linear movement for a variety of applications.  Available as single acting (spring extend or spring return actuators) and double acting styles with single rod or double rod configurations, non-rotating, and precision non-rotating models.

Actuator body styles include crimped, round, or tie rod.  Single acting air cylinders develop thrust in one direction and have spring return mechanism, which lowers air consumption compared with the equivalent size of double acting air cylinders.  Using a double acting air cylinder, air pressure may be alternately applied to provide force in both directions.

The 25A- series variations are designed using materals compatible with secondary battery applications and are able to be used in low dew point environments.  The variations eliminate copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) material where possible, making them compatible with secondary battery manufacturing for electronics, automotive, and other vehicle types.

Compact cylinders are condensed versions of basic pneumatic cylinders ideal for cylinder applications where saving space and energy is a concern.  They are used to provide straight-line, in/out linear movement for a variety of applications.

Guided cylinders utilize guide rods mounted parallel to the piston rod to provide stable, non-rotating, high side load performance.  SMC offers dual rod, heavy duty, and precision actuator models.  Like rodless cylinders, SMC guide rod cylinders reduce rod bending, piston bending, and uneven seal wear.  Low profile guided actuator series are available for restrictive space limitations.

Rotary actuators come in two types: Rack & Pinion and Vane styles.  When the application calls for rotational motion less than one revolution, rotary cylinders can mount right at the equipment joint without taking up space with long stroke lengths, which would be required to do the same job with a linear cylinder.  SMC's pneumatic rotary actuator units can achieve arc lengths of  90°, 180°, 190°, or even 270°, depending on the configuration.

Rodless cylinder differ from basic air cylinders in that no piston rod extends outside the cylinder body.  Instead, the internal piston is connected to an external carriage, by means of a magnetic or mechanical coupling system.

Cylinders with lock and heavy-duty stopper cylinders are ideal for drop prevention applications in which air pressure can be lost, or for use on conveyor lines or other applications requiring an external stopping device.

SMC offers Direct Operated Solenoid Valve in 3 port, 4 port, 5 port and suitable for vacuum and copper free application. Direct acting solenoid valve provides high speed, lightweight and high flow performance. The valve will operate at pressures from 0 psi to rated maximum pressure and can be configured as stand alone or in manifold base.

SMC's air preparation (FRL) products offer a wide variety of filter, regulator, and lubricator units.  Combination units include air filter regulator, air filter regulator mist separator, as well as ambient dryers, booster regulators, precision regulators, mist separators, and a wide range of accessories.

Pressure regulators from SMC have been updated to the new urban white base color for a clean modern look.  The pressure drop across the regulator has been reduced to create a more efficient unit with a maximum set pressure of 100 psi.  The locking adjustment knob prevents accidental setting changes.  Options include a mounting bracket, and set nuts for panel mounting as well as pressure gauges.

Booster regulators can save money and energy by increasing the main line pressure up to two times.  The booster regulator, when connected to air supply line, increases pressure up to two times and the main air supply pressure may be set low.

SMC offers a variety of pressure gauges including general purpose, oil-free/external parts copper-free with limit indicator, clean series, and a pressure gauge with a pressure switch.  Pressure ranges vary from 0.2 to 1MPa, depending on the selected gauge.  Panel mounting is possible.

Designed for convenient point of use drying without the need for electrical power, membrance dryers utilize hollow fiber membranes to remove water vapor from compressed air.  Permeable to water vapor but not air, the IDG series can achieve pressure dew points as low as -44°F (-42°C) and ISO8573-1 moisture classes from 2 to 6.  They have no moving parts, vibration, or heat discharge, and contribute only a small amount of purge air to their operating environment.  The IDG series is available as single units or convenienty assembled with necessary pre-filtration and optional pressure regulation.

Membrane air dryer, copper and zinc free series 25A-IDG is available in a single unit. 25A-IDG is suitable for use in secondary battery manufacturing applications with a dew point of -40°F (-40°C).

SMC one-touch tube fittings come in metric and inch size pneumatic fittings and are available in a wide variety of sizes, body styles and thread types.  The specially designed packing provides positive sealing under pressure without the reduced flow common with compression fittings.  SMC offers one-touch tube fittings in several special environments such as anti-static, flame resistant, clean room, DOT, and food service fittings.

SMC manufactures Fluoro-resin tubing for use in environments involving high temperatures and/or corrosive fluids.  Pneumatic tubing is also available in several other materials both with and without reinforcement for use in standard applications.  SMC fittings incorporate a positive tube seal while the fitting is under pressure which allows polyurethane tubing to be used.  

SMC's updated VXD series for air is a pilot operated, 2 port solenoid valve.  The renewed VXD is not only smaller, but uses less power compared to the previous version.  Available in aluminum, resin, brass, and stainless steel.  The VXD series also offers low concentration ozone resistant and oil free options.  Flow rate ranges from Cv of 1.9 to 9.5 for the threaded version.

The VX2 series is a 2 port direct solenoid valve for general purpose air.  Available body materials include resin, aluminum, brass, or stainless steel with port size up to 1/2 inch.  Resin body is offered with one-touch fitting to reduce installation time.  It is also available as a manifold to reduce piping.

The VXZ series is a 2 port, pilot operated solenoid valve capable of operating at a higher differential pressure by maintaing a zero-pressure differential on the valve seat.  It is compatible with wide range of fluid.  Flow rate ranges from Cv of 1.7 to 10.2.

Rodless type electric actuators feature load mounting platforms situated above a ball screw drive or belt drive.  Ball screw type advantages are better positioning repeatability than belt drives.  Belt drive provides a more economical offering.

AC servo slider type electric actuators are similar to the slider type, except they utilize an AC servo motor instead of a DC type.  The AC servo motor enables higher speed and acceleration, as well as improved vertical load capability.  The drivers are pulse input type, with both incremental and absolute encoder options and 17- or 18-bit resolution.

The rod type electric actuators have a familiar rod cylinder form suitable for push, pull, lift, and press applications.  The guide rod type includes rods to counter rotational forces instead of the drive and motor, and resists shock and sustained lateral loads.

AC servo rod type electric actuators are similar to the rod and guided rod types, except they utilize an AC servo motor instead of a DC type.  The AC servo motor enables higher speed and acceleration, as well as improved vertical load capability.  The drivers are pulse input type, with both incremental and absolute encoder options and 17- or 18-bit resolution.
